SkillingIndia – Exploring Opportunities

SkillingIndia established in the year 2018 is a new age skill development startup started by industry experienced professionals & entrepreneurs from IIT, IIM, and other reputed institutions with a diverse industry experience of  20+ years across the globe. The startup’ focuses on Upskilling, Right-Skilling and “Continuous Learning” for higher employability, organizational productivity, entrepreneurship, career & personal growth.  The company provides right skills to the students, industry aligned career exposure along with training, tools & certifications. It also provides a platform for students who want to become entrepreneur & innovator thus helping them in life & people skills

With headquarter & training center in Bangalore, SkillingIndia provides a holistic development to the youth. It not only builds a culture of continuous opportunity of learning & growth, but also emphasizes on skills, jobs, recruitment & career growth. The startup was the vision of Neeraj Kumar(serial entrepreneur & career coach) & Manish Chowdhary(Ex-CEO – Tally Education)

The idea of SkillingIndia came to Neeraj Kumar when he working with another venture, a recruitment research startup. Here, he was building a skilling & career counseling solution. That time, he saw challenges that exist in the work environment. Firstly, people do not focus on continuous learning and secondly, in modern new working order, companies focus on reskilling & upskilling the employees were minimal. Thus he started talking about this idea to different people from the education landscape in India & USA and thus met his co-founder Manish Chowdhary. Both the founders started building the startup from scratch with passion & right capability.   

 With India aiming to become a five-trillion-dollar economy, COVID 19 and the global lockdown has impacted the skills ecosystem, resulting in an imbalance in the skills landscape. There is a dire need to skill, upskill and multi-skill a huge workforce so there is suitable employability. Thus, promoting education, special education, employment-enhancing vocational skills is the need of the hour. Today, there is urgent need to meet the dynamic needs of the employers by offering flexibility in the courses being designed, certifications being offered, and training the resources. Thus, the need of the hour is to tap into technology to leap-frog youth of today into employability. 

In view of the huge problem, SkillingIndia aims to bridge gap on the following –

Today students find it hard to understand and practice the application of the information in the context of the “real work world”. Thus to develop industry-relevant skills the company has built Certified Employability Programs that provide continuous exposure to the industry helps bridge the gap between academia and the real world.

In a world of fast-paced evolution and disruption, organizations need to keep reinventing themselves to stay relevant. The company has already worked with more than 1000 students, boarded 100 instructors & experts to provide continuous learning on more than 250 subjects. More than 1500 students has since inception taken tests for continuous evaluation.

Neeraj Kumar & Manish Chowdhary is the founders of SkillingIndia & alumni of IIT & IIM.
