New Delhi: Kia Motors, which is set to enter the mass segment in India with an entry-level SUV during the upcoming festive season, expects volume in the ongoing fiscal 2021 to be better than last year on the back of the new product, despite the slowdown induced by the coronavirus pandemic.
The new SUV, Kia Sonet, will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and the Mahindra XUV300 in a segment which posted monthly sales of 30,000-40,000 units prior to the pandemic.
Apart from sales in the domestic markets, Kia plans to leverage India as one of the major export hubs for the Sonet. The vehicle, which has been specifically developed keeping in mind Indian consumers, will be exported from the company’s plant at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh to markets in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
