PM Modi to inaugurate India’s longest sea bridge, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link on January 12
PM Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) on January 12, a remarkable sea bridge spanning 22km and ranking 12th globally.
Under construction since 2018, the MTHL promises a revolutionary travel experience between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, cutting commute time from two hours to 20 minutes. With an estimated cost of Rs 17,843 crore, the six-lane bridge will accommodate 70,000 vehicles daily, enforcing a maximum speed of 100 kmph.
However, motorcycles, autorickshaws, and tractors are restricted from using the sea bridge. The ambitious project, known as Atal Setu in honor of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, carries an estimated cost of Rs 17,843 crore, making it one of the country’s most expensive endeavors.
