Darjeeling Tea sees rise in selling price by 10-15%
Put it down to climate change: a six-month dry period in the normally mist-covered hills nearly half last year’s crop, which is why premium Darjeeling tea prices have soared by 10-15% this season.
Tea planters said that the very extended dry spell had a negative impact on both output and the quality of the high-end first flush teas that are sold in April and May.
