Vasavi Hospital

While the advancements in medical knowledge and capability made over the years have been remarkable, hospitals have remained basically the same over the past fifty years. In some ways, this is not so surprising. Hospitals are profoundly complex buildings, comprising a wide range of services and units, from emergency rooms and operating theaters, to clinical laboratories and imaging centers, to food services and housekeeping. So if there needs to be a change, technological advancements is the only way to go. While there are several hospitals across the length and breadth of our country who promise to provide the most up-to-date healthcare services and facilities, only a few live up to the promises made. Thus, talking about one such renowned brand – Vasavi Hospital is progressing on the trust to serve society without discrimination of caste or creed, but only focusing on coming out as a go-to Healthcare Hub.

Established in the year 1951, Vasavi Hospital is a unit of Sree Vasavi Trust which was set up with the noble vision to deliver Quality Healthcare to the community at large. The Sree Vasavi Trust is involved in supporting & providing quality education, hostel accommodation for economically backward students by supporting the weaker section of the society to avail world-class health care at affordable prices.

A 153 bed multispecialty unit with state of the art infrastructure, Vasavi Hospital is equipped and staffed to provide quality affordable healthcare across all specialities under one roof. Offering all the major multispecialty services under one roof including critical care and diagnostic, the Hospital also houses a comprehensive laboratory, ultrasonography, mammogram and CT scan. Thus, to help our readers get a detailed overview of what Vasavi Hospital really stands for, and what lies for it in the near future, we interviewed Mr. Srivatsan Chakravarthy, the CEO of the Hospital.

  • In-sync with the Societal Demands and Trends

When we asked Mr. Srivatsan Chakravarthy to talk about how Vasavi is well-equipped today, focused towards a better tomorrow, he shared – Vasavi Hospital offers all major multispecialty services under one roof including critical care and diagnostics. The critical care services include medical, surgical and neonatal intensive care units along with a comprehensive accident and emergency unit. Our infrastructure facilities have made the entire process of patient care effective, safe, time-bound, patient-centric, accessible and efficient. Also, our infrastructure has enabled better accessibility, efficiency and quality together which constitute an optimal hospital infrastructure.

  • Future-equipped Facilities

Elaborating on the detailed infrastructural setup which exists at Vasavi, Mr. Srivatsan Chakravarthy added on the various equipment and amenities present at Vasavi, in turn, providing top-notch services to all the patients. In this very context the CEO spoke about the Allergy Machine, which helps diagnose and manage allergic diseases, which is fairly complicated even in today’s time. Additionally, the CEO threw a spotlight on how this machine facilitates doctors to analyze clinical manifestations ranging across the severity spectrum.

Adding to the above points, Mr. Srivatsan Chakravarthy shared how pumped the management is with the launch of the advanced world-class cardiovascular care via a new Cath lab Philips Intuits with state-of-the-art facilities. As the onboard cardiology department is known for its excellence in delivery of global standards of care to patients, this new addition will surely help with diagnosing and treating patients with a multitude of cardiovascular disorders including acute emergencies and elective/complex cardiovascular diseases. There is also a Ultrasonic Cavitation device at our hospital which is a surgical device using low frequency ultrasound energy to dissect or fragment tissues with low fiber content, concluded the CEO.

  • Specialties and Super-Specialties

From General Cardiac Health to Coronary Angioplasty or even Device Closure – ASD and many more, our Cardiology department and its patients are a testament to this, exclaims Mr. Srivatsan Chakravarthy.

Continuing to explain about the various services offered at Vasavi, through the questionnaire the CEO explained how at Vasavi – Orthopaedic is not just about bones in the body, but it also includes a line of treatment and surgery, along with sports injury, trauma, and different congenital issues. He shared – We at Vasavi Hospital, have a robust team of Orthopedicians and surgeons who come up with the right approach to make sure that our patients receive the holistic care pre-surgery and post-surgery.

Also, Mr. Srivatsan spoke about how Vasavi has left no stones untouched offering the most unique and effective treatment and diagnosis setup in the field of Urology & Nephrology. Adding a valuable point on this, the CEO stated – “We also treat several urological conditions with a variety of diagnostic exams like the laboratory analysis of patient’s samples, including urine, semen and blood”. He continued – “Apart from the above specialties Vasavi offers 30+ specialties, among which the Mother and Child Care, Dermatology and Cosmetology, Emergency & Critical Care are a few”.

  • Globally Accepted Workforce

In a time where Patients don’t care about their physician’s medical school grades or other accolades—they want to feel that they are in good hands. A good doctor knows how to make a patient feel as though they are being cared for, that their concerns are valid, and that they are being heard. Vasavi hires doctors keeping this important aspect in mind.

Mr. Srivatsan Chakravarthy quotes – “Even though the bricks and mortar, the technical equipment and the system resources are the backbone of our organization, the heart and soul of this organization is the “PEOPLE” who give so much of their time and their talent to help those in need overcome their individual health obstacles”. “It is these physicians, nurses and other caregivers who each and every day blend the miracle of compassion with the marvel of technology to make a real difference in the lives of our patients”.

The CEO also shared insights on how the onboard doctors partake in Regular health check-up Camps conducted in Bangladesh and North East parts of India, and how they are motivated to offer services wholeheartedly. And how at Vasavi they have regular – Bring your child to work place days, day outings, team lunch arrangements, celebration of all the festivals, and provide equal opportunities to learn and grow.

  • Quality Collaborations

Quite excited in his response Mr. Srivatsan Chakravarthy is elated about Bengaluru getting its first birth center integrating professional midwifery and evidence-based obstetrics set within the existing Vasavi Hospital. This center is called – Aastrika Midwifery Centre, which is perhaps the first clinic in India to feature specialized Denmark-inspired “Sensory Technology” in the labor and delivery rooms. Specific combinations of the audiovisual stimulation and specialty dimmable lighting have a documented calming effect on the otherwise clinical space, creating a sense of well-being and an overall comforting and supportive birthing experience. The dynamic lighting and audiovisuals also help release oxytocin, a hormone responsible for signaling contractions and inducing natural labor.
