Kia Motors India launches its compact SUV Sonet
After a long wait since it debuted at the Auto Expo, earlier this year, Kia’s dub-four meter compact SUV – Sonet – is finally hitting Indian roads. Coming off the back of the hugely successful Seltos, the Sonet has a lot to live up to – and the first part of that is under the hood. The Sonet is available in both petrol and diesel versions. The Sonet has three engine variants – a 1.0L petrol, a 1.2L petrol and a 1.5L diesel – with an optional six or seven-speed automatic transmission.
Most of the features in the final production model are carried down from the concept – with the Sonet keeping the jewel LEDs and daytime running lamps while offering a 10-inch infotainment system on the inside and connectivity features that are becoming ubiquitous. Like its rivals – Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport – the Sonet’s entry-level ‘HTE smart stream G1.2 5MT’ variant debuts at Rs 671,000 (ex-showroom, pan-India).
