Bangladesh crisis results in 10-20% increase in India’s garment export
According to executives and industry associations, the political unrest in Bangladesh may result in a 10–20% increase in export orders for India’s apparel sector over the course of the next 18 months.
India’s garment exports might increase by $2–3 billion a year in value. The previous fiscal year’s exports were $14.5 billion.
Although exporters warn New Delhi has to be prepared for a potential trade diversion caused by the political instability in the eastern neighbor, one of the top garment exporters in the world, the local textile sector is in a wait-and-watch mode. “India stands to gain from exports of clothing.
