Rajasthan too finds some of the MDH and Everest spices unsafe for usage
As domestic and international scrutiny of the prominent brands MDH and Everest for suspected contamination grows, India’s Rajasthan state has informed the federal government that testing have determined several of their spices to be “unsafe” for eating. This information is documented in a letter.
Sales of three spice mixes made by MDH and one by Everest were halted in Hong Kong in April after the city claimed they contained high concentrations of the carcinogen ethylene oxide. This move drew the attention of regulators in India and other countries.
Additionally, Singapore issued an order for the Everest mix to be recalled, while Australia, the US, and New Zealand all stated they were investigating the problems. India is the world’s largest producer, exporter, and user of spices; as such, Britain has imposed further restrictions on all spices entering the country.
